Open House will provide a safe space for people to meet and for community to flourish. Every weekday afternoon, between 2pm and 4pm, the sanctuary in Aberdeen Methodist Church will be open to serve refreshments, stimulate conversation and provide purposeful activity. Our aim will be both to help prevent and to address the problems associated with poor mental health and loneliness. The fund will enable us to finance a range of activities offered in a warm and friendly environment. Activities will reflect the interests of the people who come. In addition to bringing in experts to run workshops and activities, we will encourage the people who come to Open House to take a lead in planning and leading workshops relating to their interests. This will contribute to building self-esteem and fostering participant involvement with the community as it develops.
