Marketing & Communications Assistant

We are looking for a Marketing & Communications Assistant.
The Marketing Assistant will be responsible for planning and successfully delivering effective daily marketing requirements, keeping everything running smoothly to market and promote all of ASC’s business revenue streams including visitor attraction, schools, community, corporate, and fundraising.
Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, external PR agencies as well as other ASC staff, the post holder will create and deliver successful social media posts (organic and paid) suitable for a diverse range of audiences across different platforms, as well as promote ASC through a range of other creative and inspiring opportunities to bring increased engagement to all ASC activities.
The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within the team, with a willingness to work evening and weekends as required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing Support
• Support the planning and implementation of ASC promotional campaigns
• Support the preparation of online and print marketing campaigns
• In conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, gather updates from ASC team to generate marketing content
• Act as a point of contact for suppliers, printers, and external agencies to coordinate marketing materials
• Assist in organising marketing materials from flyers to digital assets
• Attend external public and industry events, acting as a brand ambassador to market ASC
• Create innovative and engaging PR sessions for delivery at ASC’s pop-up shop in the Bon Accord Centre and other agreed venues
• Support promotion by ensuring timely execution of social media and email campaigns
• Support the execution of sponsor and funder agreements by assisting with tasks such as social media mentions, content creation
Social Media
• Create innovative and engaging content that highlights ASC’s commercial services and activities
• Schedule and post social media across agreed platforms in an appropriate and timely fashion
• Monitor social media platforms responding to comments, questions, and messages in a timely and engaging manner
• Design and produce eye-catching graphics for social media
• Track social media performance, providing and reporting on insights and communicate suggested improvements
Email & Website Management
• Draft and send newsletters to segmented audiences
• Support list management and audience segmentation
• Maintain and update the ASC website with fresh content via ‘What’s On’ and other appropriate pages
Miscellaneous
• To ensure that all marketing supports the mission and values of the science centre.
• To share good practice initiatives both locally and nationally.
• To seek to undertake joint marketing initiatives, if appropriate, for the benefit of the science centre.
• Act as an outstanding ambassador for Aberdeen Science Centre both locally and further afield.
• Weekend and evening work is expected.
