Advocacy Service Aberdeen (ASA) is a third sector agency providing an independent advocacy service for people who use health and social care services in Aberdeen City. Advocacy helps people speak up about things that are important to them and to have more control over their lives and to have a greater say in decision making and the services they receive.
We are seeking to employ a
MENTAL HEALTH AND LEARNING DISABILITY
ADVOCACY WORKER Full Time (35hrs)
Salary up to £23,769 + 5% pension
This role will be suited to an individual with an interest in human rights and its application to people with a learning disability or those who are experiencing mental health difficulties. The successful candidate will support individuals and families to understand their rights and ex-press their views related to health and social work interventions which affect their life. The successful candidate will also assist individuals to be better prepared and able to engage with professionals from a range of services including social work, police, housing and health. Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as a commitment to equal opportunities and to the empowerment of individuals and groups. Applicants must be non-judgemental and able to empathise with the experiences of others. The ability to drive and having access to a car is essential. Education to degree level or equivalent is highly desirable.
