Aberdeen Foyer Counselling Service

Amount requested: £9,956.88

Aberdeen Foyer has seen a sharp increase in the demand for its counselling service over the past 14 months, with a particular rise in those people struggling with alcohol and substance use, as such vital funding is required to extend our support to those who need it most. Our aim is to create a counselling service that focuses on providing support for 25 -30 participants in Aberdeen City Central Locality who have experienced a deterioration in their mental health during the pandemic and have identified new or increased alcohol use as a result.

The project is specifically designed to deliver 1:1 counselling interventions, providing timely, person centred, professional mental health support that will equip participants with the tools and strategies they need to improve their mental and emotional health and make positive social connections, which in turn will support them out of alcohol dependency and provide increased hope and aspiration for the future.
