About this fund
Key priorities are:
- Prevention or relief of poverty
- Promotion of religious or racial harmony or promotion of equality or diversity
- Relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage
Applications should be capable of having a clear and meaningful impact, for example:
- Small charities where the contribution amount is significant relative to the charity’s size
- Larger charities with identifiable project opportunities that AABIE could put its name to
- Projects which include the opportunity for AAB employee(s) involvement through the AABIE volunteering programme

Who can apply
Generally, grants will only be made to charities, individuals and community groups who operate in and around AAB’s operating communities (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London)
When to apply
Applications can be submitted at any time. The board of trustees meets four times a year after each grant deadline. Deadlines are:
- 31 December (for meeting in January)
- 31 March (for meeting in April)
- 30 June (for meeting in July)
- 30 September (for meeting in October)

- Home improvements (windows and doors/extensions)
- Holidays abroad/fundraising trips abroad
- School trips abroad
- General operational costs
- Televisions
- Rent/rates for premises
- Driving lessons for parents/carers
- Medical treatment abroad
- PTA’s (Parent Teacher Associations)
- Sporting events for individuals or charities to participate in
- CIC’s (Community Interest Companies)
- organisations which have applied for funding in the last 12 months
