SUMMARY:Introduction to Suicide Prevention
DESCRIPTION:Grampian Wellbeing Festival – Join SAMH’s Suicide Prevention Team this May \nIt is estimated that 1 in 20 people have thought about suicide in any given year\, which shows us why it’s so important that we all do our bit to start the conversation and tackle stigma. \nThese sessions are free of charge and open to anyone living or working in Aberdeen City or Moray. They are for anyone who wants to stay informed and get the opportunity to come together and learn from others. This is whether you are looking for an initial overview or have done some sort of suicide prevention training previously and looking for a refresher. \nThe session covers: \n• Introduction to the statistics and prevalence of suicide\n• Stigma – why does this still exist?\n• Spotting the signs that may suggest someone is having thoughts of suicide\n• Asking the question around suicide\, the power of listening and remembering what we can do within the remit of our roles\n• Signposting to support and resources; our boundaries/looking after ourselves \nFor any questions get in touch with SAMH’s North East Suicide Prevention Team at northeastsuicideprevention@samh.org.uk

SUMMARY:Step-Up-4-HER - For Schools\, Community Centres & Dance Schools
DESCRIPTION:At The Period Place\, we work to ensure that no one is held back because they cannot access period products. Through product distribution\, awareness campaigns\, and education initiatives\, we support individuals and families who are struggling to afford essential menstrual care while also helping to break the stigma that still surrounds periods. \nThis May in support of Menstrual Hygiene Day we are running a school fundraising competition called “Step Up For Her” alongside our annual Walk to Give Her a Voice sponsored walk. Schools across the region will be taking part in a dance challenge to raise funds and awareness for period poverty. The initiative encourages young people to support an important cause while promoting teamwork\, wellbeing\, and community spirit. \n“Step Up For Her” takes place on 28th May\, final date to register is 2nd May.
