Human Rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world. They are a promise from our governments and an important part of our work to combat poverty. Through Rights in Action, the Poverty Alliance has been working with civil society organisations and communities to add human rights to their collective power, and to deepen rights based approaches.
This workshop will bring together organisations working in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to learn more about economic, social, cultural and environmental rights, and how they can be used in our anti-poverty work. We will explore the relationship between human rights and poverty, the systemic rights issues you see in your work, what it means to take a rights based approach, examples of how human rights can be used as a tool to drive change, and how we can work together to advance human rights.
There will be a break for lunch, and lunch will be provided.
