Home-Start Aberdeen

We awarded £3,000 to this project

Home-start work with vulnerable young families in Aberdeen who are struggling to cope with life. Common features of these families are; underdeveloped parenting skills, physical and mental illness, relationship difficulties and poverty. The pandemic and lockdown has put immense pressure on these families that were already struggling. Many of these families now have restricted access to key services and before were already on the margins of poverty before incomes were reduced.

Home-start offers bespoke 1:1 remote support to each family achieving significant success in sustainable parenting and helping prevent family crisis. They are also introducing a family video support group to allow parents to meet remotely and introducing a kids club. They are providing play and craft materials to families and offering emergency assistance where they can directly support families in urgent need of supplies.
