Services to Third Sector:

Our primary purpose is to support and work alongside all businesses within the BID area, ie the city centre immediately around Union St. Within that, there are, of course, many Third Sector Businesses and, whilst we already work with a fair proportion of these, we are always looking to extend our reach and our support.

Aberdeen Inspired BID exists to encourage people into the Business Improvement District and therefore we both instigate and support many projects, such as the Nuart Aberdeen Street Art Festival, Painted Doors and Purple Flag (where we work with street pastors, Red Frogs, Students Associations, Aberdeen Alcohol & Drug Partnership in order to ensure that the city centre night time economy is a safe experience for all our visitors). We believe our work has a positive effect across all sectors of the business community in Aberdeen.

Commitment to the Third Sector:

We are fully aware of the significance of, and brilliant work being done in, the Third Sector.

We offer non retail charities and places of worship full exemption on the BID Levy. The exception to this is Third Sector Organisations which have a retail outlet, eg Charity Shops.

Our Civic Pride projects currently involve pupils from various schools; employees from businesses within the BID who have voluntary hours they wish to use; as well as our Urban Bee Project , where we work with service users from Aberdeen Alcohol & Drugs Action, to tend beehives we have, and to promote beekeeping as both a biodiversity necessity and a tool in the “Recovery Toolkit”. Working on diverse projects, across multiple sectors of the business community, we recognise the key role that the Third Sector plays in our society, and work to support this, too.
