Based at North East Sensory Services, Aberdeen

The Scottish War Blinded team of outreach workers is expanding. As the number of people that we support rises, we are increasing our staff team across Scotland. One of the new posts will be based in Aberdeen and cover the city and Aberdeenshire areas.

The post holder will join a team of fourteen outreach workers who provide a person-centred, innovative service to veterans with a vision impairment. The staff work with members of Scottish War Blinded to identify and support their individual needs and so increase and maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life. The post will involve considerable travel in order to visit our members in the own homes.

The post holder will be qualified to SVQ level 3 or above in health, social care, community work or rehabilitation in vision impairment. They will have excellent communication skills, have at least one year’s recent experience of working with older people, adults with a vision impairment, those with other disabilities, or service veterans in the community, and be committed to empowering people with a vision impairment to have choice and control over their lives.

The post is subject to PVG Scheme Record/Update, paid by Scottish War Blinded.
