Aberdeen Cyrenians is a local Aberdeen charity that aims to meet the varying needs of people affected by homelessness through the provision of a variety of services. We rely on a diverse range of funding, and are currently looking to generate increased income from community fundraising and events.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to facilitate Aberdeen Cyrenians’ Street Alternatives Music Group and Musical Mayhem at Wernham House. The position will be a fixed term self-employed contractor position due to the nature of the role.
At Music Group Sessions, service users, volunteers and staff come together in a safe, friendly environment and find joy and fun in group singing. Participants are given the opportunity to use percussion instruments, learn to harmonise, experience the benefits of group singing and have the opportunity to express themselves through music without judgement. The Music Group Facilitator takes the lead role in achieving these objectives.
This position is a funded position working a maximum of 4 hours per week in the afternoon and evening for a fixed term providing up to 36 sessions over 12 months. The music group facilitator will be required to conduct 2 x 1 hour sessions and utilise the remaining 2 hours for set up and development of the programme.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate most of the following:
- Have a musical background;
- Experience in singing
- Experience being able to coordinate and plan music sessions;
- Previous work experience with vulnerable groups;
- Previous experience in reaching or leading musical classes.
