shmu (Station House Media Unit), at the forefront of community media development in the UK, operates across the regeneration areas of Aberdeen and with other disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals and groups across the North East of Scotland.
MAP supports prisoners in HMP & YOI Grampian to return positively into the community having used media as a unique development platform to address and overcome a range of issues prior to release. The project, a partnership with HMP Grampian, is delivering the first cross-platform, peer-led, Creative Media Unit within a UK prison. The Unit offers a range of innovative opportunities for engagement in radio production, training in all aspects of filmmaking and music technology.
The post-holder will develop and provide a coordinated throughcare support package to all participants taking part in the MAP Community Integration Support Service. This will include providing intensive support based on the individual’s Asset Screens and Learning Plans by; engaging effectively with participants; assessing person-centred needs, strengths and aspirations; creating effective paths to success; building and supporting effective links with services and resources in prison and the community; and reviewing the effectiveness of partnerships and shared goals.
