Carers Advocacy Worker (Advocacy Service Aberdeen)

Advocacy Service Aberdeen(ASA) is a third sector agency providing an independent advocacy service for people who use health and social care services in Aberdeen City. Advocacy helps people speak up about things that are important to them and to have more control over their lives and to have a greater say in decision making and the services they receive.

We are seeking to employ a
salary up to £23,537 + 5% pension

The successful candidate will provide an independent advocacy service to informal carers to support them in their caring role in relation to Self-Directed Support (SDS). This will involve helping carers identify and develop personal outcome plans; prepare for, express their views at and participate in assessments and reviews; challenge decisions; access services and identify solutions to meet their and their ‘cared for’ one’s needs.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as a commitment to equal opportunities and to the empowerment of individuals and groups. Applicants must be non-judgemental and able to empathise with the experiences of others. The ability to drive and having access to a car is essential. The post is currently funded by The Scottish Government until March 2021.

Education to degree level or equivalent is highly desirable.
